I travel to feel alive…
I want to feel the ocean wind whipping through my hair. I want to see every vibrant landscape that this world has to offer. I travel to experience the most beautiful things in life… to have my breath caught in my throat as I gaze upon a beautiful sunset.
To push myself to new limits. To not only think about doing something really scary – but actually do it.
I travel to learn from others…
I want to speak with as many people as possible and to gain perspectives I might never have considered otherwise. I want to feel accepted, and be more accepting of others. I want to steep myself in culture and admire the ways it’s different from my own.
Eventually, I hope to learn a new language… to bend my tongues in ways it’s never been bent before.
I travel to EAT…
And hell, I can eat. I have greedy tastebuds that always ask for more – that want to experience every single flavor profile imaginable. The traditional? The fusion? The off-the-wall weird? Give it all to me. You name it – I’ll eat it.
I travel to escape…
Life can be hard, and travel is an escape window. When the city is too stimulating, with its blinding lights and constant noise, travel promises the escape to a new destination. One that provides the promise of a quieter moment, perhaps with rolling hills and small chirping birds.
I travel to escape my own head. I’ll throw myself into situations that will force me outside of my negative thought loops. It never fails to surprise me how making myself uncomfortable actually makes me feel more comforted in the end.
I travel to get out of my comfort zone…
Because being outside of your comfort zone is better than being inside of it. It’s a jolt from the day-to-day routine. It’s a promise of new sights, new smells and new sounds that will shock and delight your senses. This is a promise that never fails to deliver.
It is only outside of my comfort zone that I am able to grow.
